Лавренёв, Комендант Пушкин) — 'Well, they tell me you've given orders to pull down the Chesme Column tomorrow. That right?' 'Well?' The chairman bridled still more. 'It's a blunder-headed thing to do. No call for it.'
И самое главное - блочно-стяжная конструкция не выдержит проектной мощности, обязательно поломается, развалится, и тогда вообще всё ни к чему. (А. Бек, Жизнь Бережкова) — Above all, the anchor-block-cast system would break down through structural failure, it would never stand the strain, and therefore the whole thing was a sheer waste of time.
2) (не следует, не нужно, бесполезно (делать что-либо)) there is no point in doing smth.Он не привык к величию. "Сергуня" ему как раз было впору, по его малому росту и по свойствам характера. Впору, как обношенные, ладные сапоги, менять которые было ни к чему. (И. Ракша, Весь белый свет) — He was unused to this official form of address. The name Sergunya suited him down to the ground, it was in keeping both with his small stature and with his character; it fitted him like a pair of well-worn, comfortable boots which there would be no point in changing.
3) (без всякого повода, причины (делать что-либо)) for no apparent (good) reason; for no reason at allДевчонка с болячками на губах... велела ему идти по обмёрзлой лестнице наверх, в горницу, сама хихикнула ни к чему, шмыгнула под крыльцо, в подклеть. (А. Толстой, Пётр Первый) — A little girl with sores on her lips... told him to climb the ice-covered stairs into the house, giggled for no apparent reason and dived under the porch into the basement.

cave
1) An underground hollow with access from the ground surface or from the sea, often found in limestone areas and on rocky coastlines.
2) A natural cavity, chamber or recess which leads beneath the surface of the earth, generally in a horizontal or obliquely inclined direction. It may be in the form of a passage or a gallery, its shape depending in part on the joint pattern or structure of the rock and partly on the type of process involved in its excavation. Thus, caves worn by subterranean rivers may be different in character from, and of considerably greater extent than, a sea-cave eroded by marine waves.
3) A natural underground open space, generally with a connection to the surface and large enough for a person to enter. The most common type of cave is formed in a limestone by dissolution.
